Here's what you signed up for.
Every Tuesday morning, Write Sports lands in your inbox with one thing: a framework for building the independent business you should already have.
The Hook — Something that happened in sports media this week, and why it matters to you.
The Lead — One framework or case study you can put to work on your own newsletter, podcast or channel that week.
The Scouting Report — 1-3 things I read the past week that I found useful for sports creators or interesting in our industry.
The Locker Room — What I'm working through as I build my own independent business.
The Pressroom — How to work with me when you want a plan built around your own business.
It takes about eight minutes to read. By the time you're done, you'll have something you can use.
Your welcome email is how you get the Sports Newsletter Pricing Calculator. Reply "yes" to it and I'll send the calculator over.
It should hit your inbox in the next minute or two. If you don't see it:
Check your Promotions, Updates, or Spam folder
Move the email to your Primary inbox
Add the sender to your contacts
Those steps make sure every future issue reaches you. A lot of good work gets lost in the Promotions tab — don't let that happen here.
The weekly issue is free.
If you're ready to build something real — an audience you own, revenue you control, a business that doesn't depend on a beat or a masthead — I take on a small number of sports journalists for one-on-one roadmap consulting.
We build a 90-day plan around your beat, your audience and the hours you have. You do the building. I make sure you're building the right thing.
Most journalists wait until they've been laid off to start building. The ones who don't are already ahead.
To start that conversation, reply to your welcome email with a line about where you are and what you're building. I read every reply.
